[Blood Scythe]

Blood was laying on a large stone in the forest her eyes closed the scales on her face covered by her hair. She let a small noise out and closed her eyes headphones around her ears. She let out another long yawn and sat up rubbing her eyes. She cracked her neck and back before standing, she had fallen asleep there a long time ago and had never really woken up till now.

Her eyes glazed the surroundings as she yawned again and then sat down on the rock. She was a lazy type of person, so this surrounding fit her best. She started to sing softly.
"So cut my wrists and Black my eyes, So i can fall asleep tonight, And I, You know you kill me
you know you do you kill me well, You right you do and i can tell,
You never stop untill
My final breath is gone.

Devon was laying on his back, his eyes closed. He was in a shady tree, the canopy enveloping him in a dancing curtain of leaves. Whenever he heard the breeze pick up a bit, he would open his eyes and watch the green leaves twirling on their branches, bouncing rays of sunlight off of the dew that clung to their surfaces. When they started to settle down, he would close his eyes again and wait. He had refined this routine over almost four hours.

Devon looked up when he heard someone singing softly to his right. The trees around him blocked his view, so he sat up and peered around. Still not seeing anyone, he called out.

"Hello?" He called, squinting eyes searching for the source of the voice.

Blood looked over the the direction of the voice and stood walking to where it had come from, sure she wasnt normally one to go and interact with others, but she felt this was a special time. She for once longed for a type of compainionship. At the very least a decent conversation. As the girl walked she noticed a male, she bit her lip in thought, and then, making sure her hair was over her scales she walked over to so she would be in view.

"...Hello..." She said in her soft yet low innocent voice. She had her arms on the adjacent elbow and was staring at him.

Devon looked down and saw a girl holding her arms. She looked frail; what was she doing all the way out here?

She's probably asking the same question about me right now, Devon thought to himself. Although I'm not sure even I could answer that one.

Devon decided to voice his thoughts; "What are you doing all the way out here?"

He sat up in the tree, his hands grasping the sturdy branch. He leaned forward - careful not to lose his balance and fall out of the tree - and studied her. Her voice was incredibly quiet, she sounded kind of like Rose.

She looked up at him almost as an inquisition, Why would he ask that. She smirked a small bit making sure her hair was still over her eyes. "..Well, I like the woods personally. It gets me away from people." She said in that soft beautiful voice. She then sat on a felled stump of a tree looking up at him. She then voiced the question that had blared in her mind.

"..Hm...Now why are you here if you dont mind my asking?" She said softly feeling the need to return his questions. She normally would have ignored anyone talking to her but today was different.

Devon smirked and laid back down on the tree branch. He looked up at the sky through a parting in the leaves, and traced a cloud drifting by that faintly resembled a rabbit.

"Same as you," he said lazily, closing his eyes momentarily. "I just wanted to get away from all of the crowds. I found that it's impossible to get away from people completely, but at least the people you meet out here don't bother you much. At least they're just trying to enjoy their day in peace."

He yawned; he didn't get much sleep the previous night. Sometimes he felt that half of the time he spent sleeping during the day was due to the fact that his irritating roommates didn't go to bed until dawn. At least this girl seemed calm enough; she had her head in the right place.

Blood simply looked up at him staring for a moment, she then decided why not get a better look, she was a small bit impulsive, which mostly led her to trouble, she began to climb the tree, rather skillfully, though not perfect, as she reached where he was she stayed attatched to the trunk and stared. She then nodded, her suspicions had been confirmed, he was not bad looking.

She then realized what she had done and rubbed the back of her head softly. "Heh...Sorry, about...that.." She said with one of those awkward grins.

Devon got a closer look at the girl, opening his eyes when he heard her approaching. He sat up and watched her climb the tree. She did it surprisingly fast for her size; she was stronger than she looked apparently.

Devon looked her over when she finally got up into the tree. Her hair was black, covering her eyes. He could hardly tell what color they were. Despite her piercings, she didn't look mean, she just looked like she was the kind of person that didn't like to be bothered. Kind of like him.

"No biggie," he said, shrugging. "You have a right to ask whatever questions you want. I'm in a pretty good mood today, I think I can handle a little conversation."

She gave a small smile, that looked extremly childish and laughed abit. She climbed onto the branch above him and layed on it looking down. She so fare, liked this perosn at least a small bit. She realized her hair wasnt infront of her eyes anymore, nromally a panic would have set in but she didnt care. She simply didnt care.

"..Hmm..ok then..Whats your name, i mean unless you want me calling you Tree man..." She said softly with another smile. she normally never had emotions when tlaking ot people. But today she did for some odd reason.

Devon smiled and put his hands behind his head. He felt himself starting to tilt to the right, so he moved one hand to steady himself. When he finally felt balanced, he replied. It was kind of odd talking to someone that wasn't looking at you, especially if they were directly above her.

Come to think about it, that's probably how she felt when we first met, Devon contemplated.

"Only if you want to," he said. "But you might find it easier just to call me Devon."

Blood slowly moved so she was laying on her stomach, a natural position for her any way. Not as if she loved it, but it wasnt so uncozy. She just gave a smile and held down her hand, since the branches werent too far in height, it shouldnt have mattered. She laughed a small bit and nodded.

"..Cool Mr.Devon Treeman ...Im Blood." She said in that soft voice once more. She wasnt normally in this good of a mood. Normally she would be hurting a person, but today she was relaxed, maybe it was the effect the forest had on her, just maybe.

Devon frowned, searching his memory for the previous conversation to be sure that he had heard her right. He wasn't hard of hearing, he just didn't pay much attention to anything. Not that he had ADD, either, most of the time he just didn't care.

"I'm sorry, I'm not sure if I heard you right," he said, voicing his thoughts. "What did you say your name was?"

He thought that she had said Blood. Strange, he had never met anyone with a name like that. Well, there was always a first time for everything, he supposed.

Blood gave a smile as she closed her eyes giving a small nod. She knew her name was odd. She just yawned softly and her hand dangled down and she almost fell asleep. she knew she wouldnt with another person near. She simply opened her jade green eye and yawned once.

"..I know..The name Blood is odd..My parents where into Gothic subculture, so I was landed with the name." She said softly to the boy, she normally hit people for questioning her name.

"They sound like they think lots of things through very thoroughly," Devon commented, leaning his head back to as to look her in the eye for a change, which he didn't often do. He reconsidered, catching himself at the last minute. "... I mean, if you don't mind me saying..."

Devon exhaled, hoping that he hadn't offended her. He didn't usually censor his comments, he didn't have anything to hide. Usually, when people didn't like what he was saying, it was a key indicator that he should probably stop talking to them. However, he strangely felt that he was starting to really care what she thought. He didn't have a lot of friends due to his lack of social skills, and it was refreshing to find someone that he could talk to.

Blood simply gave a smile opening her eyes looking down at him. She gave a nod softly, honestly she had forgotten most things about her parents, but she loved them and she knew that they did actually think things through. She sighed softly and nodded.

"..Yeah, My parents did think..Allot..They found the Red color beautiful, and hoping it would run off on me, unfortuantly for them, it didnt." Shegave a soft laugh. She never thought she was really pretty, but who knew.

Devon had started to run out of things to say. It was at about this time in every conversation that he realized he needed better social skills. He just felt so... awkward in social situations, like he never knew what he was supposed to say or do at a given time. How did other people do it? Still, he was never one to dwell on things that he didn't feel that he could change. He had other skills, why wish for something that would never happen?

"So... what is your favorite color, then?" Devon asked. He immediately felt like kicking himself afterwards. What is your favorite color?

What was wrong with him.

Blood actually found herself laughing at his question, it was such an odd one to ask, her laugh seemed actually out of place, soft and quite beautiful, but it was rare to be seen, she hadnt laughed true in over a year. She could only look down at the boy a smile on her face.

"..My favorite colors Red, well..red and Black, but myeh. Whats yours? Oh, more to the point, Do you Like Cookies?" She asked attempting to be as random as the boy was. she wasnt very social but she knew how it worked.

Devon laughed, the corners of his mouth turning upwards in a cheerful grin. He was now in a thoroughly good mood, which he hadn't expected. Today was a lazy day, but the unexpected conversation was proving to be quite enjoyable after all, much to his pleasure.

What a stroke of luck, Devon thought to himself, meeting so many new, interesting people in such a short time. Maybe this school year won't be such a bore after all, for once I'll have some people to talk to.

"Do I like cookies?" He asked, frowning in consideration. "Well, you need to be more specific. Is there a specific kind of cookie in question? Because not all cookies can be in the same circle of consideration, you know. For example, oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip aren't even in the same league!"

Devon smiled at his own pointless rambling. He wasn't even sure where he was going with this random philosophizing, but he was having fun doing it, so what did it matter anyways? He anxiously awaited her reply.

Blood gave a small laugh smile combo and looked down at him then thought for a moment, She then raised an eyebrow taking on an comical expression of seriousness. She pointed down at him.

"Ah Treeman, Your wise, however have you considered the Sugar cookie! Oh, Yes the wise and small sugar cookie, or the possibility is if the cookie be soft and melty or chewy! The cookie is a vast universe that must be feared." She said softly and nodded speaking of cookies she had some in her bag that she always wore on her shoulder. She pulled out a small box and took out a melty sugar cookie and put it in her mouth handing the box down to him.

Devon raised an eyebrow, a smile playing at his lips. He listened patiently to the sugar cookie argument and nodded at all of the right moments, taking the box of sugar cookies without hesitation. He was always in the mood for a cookie. He took a bite of the cookie, warmed by the tender clutches of the bag on her shoulder, and savored the perfect texture. It was melting slightly on the inside, the ingredients harmonizing perfectly with the crisp, golden edges, dusted with a light, cinnamon sugar. He closed his eyes, completely relaxed.

"This cookie," he said, waving the half that he hadn't already enjoyed in the air, "takes the cake. I admit defeat... you are truly the master of the cookies."

He smiled and took another bite of the cookie, a few crumbs falling onto his shirt. He brushed them off with a lazy hand, making sure not to crush the rest of the cookie in the process. He promptly took another bite after he was done, and repeated the process. He handed the bag up to her and smiled again.

"However," Devon said to Blood, sitting up on the branch, "when we go back to the school, I could whip up a chocolate chip cookie that could bring you to tears."
